Contour Kit, Make Up Revolution | Review

Hello everyone. Recently I have been loving messing around a bit more with my makeup. I started off by just adding some bronzer into my routine to see how this worked out and once I felt I became confident using this, I decided I could upgrade to getting a contour/sculpt and highlight kit. I'm not one to go all out with the different lines all over my face but I do admit that knowing where to put shading and adding a highlight onto my face really makes a difference... especially for those all important selfies!
As I am in no way a pro at anything makeup related, I decided I would start with something budget, to give it a try and practice with. I'm pretty sure you should be starting to guess by now that I love budget makeup brands. And one in particular that I can't get enough of is Makeup Revolution. Walking into Superdrug to decide which pallet I was going to go for, I was honestly spoilt for choice. They seem to be so popular at the moment but the one I ultimately went for was obviously the Makeup Revolution Ultra Sculpt & Contour kit, light medium. I loved this one when I first saw it as it didn't look too over complicated, some of them had nearing to 8 different shades and textures on one pallet and, as I'm no pro, I just got a bit freaked out by it all.

The shades in this kit are really easy to work with also. The bronzer shade looks dark at first look, however using a small amount on your brush to start with works really well. I find it is a really good shade to build up for a more intense, dramatic look for night time and just a light contour for those everyday cheek bone effects!

The highlight in this pallet isn't the best one that I have seen. However it worked for what I needed it for as a beginner. I just feel that it doesn't give the same glow as some of the others I have tried. If you are looking for more of a subtle glow though then this is perfect. I find it particularly good for everyday wear as it just adds that extra dimension to my face without looking like i'm going clubbing at 10am on a Monday morning (wishful thoughts!).
I also haven't used the blush from this one. I tried it when I was first playing around but it felt that it just didn't match my skin tone right. I felt that I was left with little orange-y shaded cheeks, in stead of the cute rosie ones I suit much more. Therefore I just don't use it. However I can imagine the full pallet working well on someone with a more olive tone to their skin. I am just way too pale to pull off the bronzed look unfortunately!

All in all this is a really great starter pallet for those of you, like me, who are looking to get on the contour band wagon but are not really sure where to start. I would definitely recommend this, the price is really great so even if you feel that you can't get the hang of it, you're not breaking the bank. It's small and compact so really easy to travel with and fits straight into your handbag if you're wanting to keep your look topped up during the day. Another point there actually, the lasting power of the kit is really great. It last all day at work for me and the end of the day results very rarely vary from the results I get as soon as it has been applied.

I would love to look into a more advance contour look now, especially a great highlight, leave your recommendations below! Thanks for stopping by and until next time my lovelies.

Look of the month

Hey guys. So I cannont believe October is over and done with already?! Feels like I've just blinked and it's gone. I'm really sorry I haven't been around for much of it. The office is moving and it's SO busy I literally come home at night and sleep! However, in amongst all the busyness I have been playing around with makeup and different looks and voila! This post was born. This is the look I have been wearing most through October.
I do apologise for my skin by the way, massive break out over this month, trying to get it under control!
I have been loving brown and golden tones to compliment the colour of nature this month. If you guys have been reading my latest posts, I'm sure you will know by now how in love I am with Autumn! So wearing golden, brown, reds have been my thing this month. Not only do they compliment the tone of the season, I actually feel like these colours match pretty much any outfit really well! I have been keeping the browns/golds to my eye makeup and then using darker berry shades/reds for my lips. Berry shades are my absolute favourite lip colours (another reason I love Autumn so much) and the one featured in this particular post is one of the very first ones I got for my collection from Avon.
It's not just autumnal makeup featured in this look of the month - I have been obsessed with this jumper from H&M a new purchase for the season and it was an absolute steal at only £6.99! I feel that this October has been so hard to manage what to wear with the weather being so indecisive. Mornings I wake up freezing and then by lunchtime I'm stripping off from over heating! This is where this jumper has been fabulous as it's not too thick for knitwear but still cosy enough to get me warm in the morning and keep me at a normal temperature throughout the day.

Makeup used in this post is petty much my standard makeup routine base - recently upgraded as you can find out if you take a look at my mini drug store haul post - and then a change for this look of the month on my eyes and lips! Rimmel 25 hour lasting finish foundation, shade 100 ivory. I have been using this foundation for around 6/7 years now? Something like that and it has done me proud everyday for all of those years. I have decided that my next buy will be something new though so if you have any recommendations, please let me know in the comments! I pair this with my ALL time holy grail product, Rimmel stay matte pressed powder shade: Soft Beige. I tend to use an ever so slightly darker powder product just to give myself extra colour, I feel too washed out otherwise. I'm not even going to preach to you about how much I love this powder, it's amazing and I love it forever, that's all I need to say. Next is Collection lasting perfection concealer in Medium fair. I first thought that this shade was slightly too orange toned for my skin, however I think it blends quite well with the foundation so for now it will do fine. If you read beauty blogs, I'm sure you are well aware of how incredible this product is for the price you pay. If not, go out and buy it. Now. I have just started using a bronzer in my make up routine, which I am loving however I feel it might take me a while to find one that I like in a shade I am comfortable with - again if you have anything to recommend, please leave a comment! As long as it isn't orange based, I am willing to give it a go. Onto my eyes, for this particular look of the month, I have still be obsessing over my Makeup Revolution Iconic Pro 2 pallet. Sorry to bang on about this all the time but the colours in this pallet are just perfect for this time of year! (YOu can read my review of this pallet here) Shade 'Paper' used for my base eye shaddow, this creates a nice light nude matte finished base for the other eye colours to go onto and I just feel that this helps the shadow last longer on my lids. I then use 'Awaken' shade in the centre and to the outer corners of my eyes, I love the golden tone to this shade and a perfect shimmer for this time of year. On the outer crease of my eyes I use the darkest brown shade 'New day' to create shadow and definition to the eye. Finishing with the lightest pale brown 'Silk' on the inner corners of my eyes to lift and brighten slightly! A great warm brown/golden autumnal look all from the same pallet, and I really do love how warm this feels. It goes perfectly with the darkness of my eyes also, which is great! Finishing the eye with a bold black cat flick eyeline look, created with Fast Stroke Eyeliner by Collection. Topping off my look with that Avon lip shade I mentioned earlier on, and that completes this autumnal look of  October for me! I feel like I've just rambled on at you all about how much I love autumn and all the looks I can create... ANYWAY! I hope you have enjoyed reading as much as I have enjoyed prancing about in this look all month! What looks have you been loving over this month? Leave some links below, I would love to take a look! Until next time my lovelies,

Autumnal Nail Favourites

Hello lovelies! This week I thought I would share with you my favourite nail colours for the Autumn months. I absolutely love painting my nails so much so that I have a dedicated day in the week - Thursday night in my house is nail night. Myself and mother sit there, over tea with a glass of wine and we paint our nails. Admittedly, we have had a couple of wacky creations created when one glass turned into one bottle...!
As it's Autumn my favourite time of the year, I thought I would combine two favourites and create a post out of it, on with the post!
Rimmel London Rapid Ruby
My first favourite is this gorgeous Rimmel Rapid Ruby. I have already done my nails this colour as soon as september hit, this went straight onto my nails! It's a bit deeper once it is applied to the nails than what it looks like in the pot, however I like that it's a deeper red. It is really easy to apply due to its slightly larger brush and it does tend to dry as quick as it says on the bottle... although I never trust it and always wait half an hour just in case anyway! I feel that this is a perfect colour for Autumn as it's such a warm, deep red it has a cosy sense to it which I love as Autumn is all about the cosy-ness!
Barry M Gelly Hi Shine Chai.
I didn't intend for this to reflect the grey days we tend to get here in the UK over Autumn, although I suppose it does and I feel like that's quite a poetic theory so lets go with that! Again, this is a really warm colour for the colder months. I think it looks warmer once it is on. This is one of my favourite nail colours that I own actually because I am so in love with this range, and just all things grey in general really... Although when I wore it the first time I did find it to chip quite quickly, the initial finish of the paint is stunning - its SO shiny! I just can't wait to get this onto my nails!
Barry M Nail Paint Vintage Violet
I am wearing this as I type this little post to you guys. I'm obsessed with anything vintage looking and I was really drawn to the pigment of this colour. It's not too bright but not a too much of a dull purple. You know I like the warmer colours by now right?! This feels great for autumn becuase it's still a splash of colour, yet it still keeps the warmth needed for the Autumn months. Like I said I do love Barry M nail paints however I do have an issue with how long they last - which is not very long just to clarify! But the range of colours is fab and they are easy to apply rarely needing more than a couple of coats to get a glossy finish, I would definitely recommend finishing this with a good top coat for a lasting finish.
Rimmel London Caramel Cupcake
First and foremost, can we just take a second to appreciate the adorable name of this nail paint. I mean it has the word cupcake in it for gods sake - adorbs! I know this is a nude colour and some people think more of a summer time kind of shade however, I thought this was a cute one for Autumn as it reminds me of chestnuts and and caramel (obviously, as the name would suggest) but more things like that which I would tend to eat more of in the Autumnal months and therefore a great colour to compliment all of those lovely foods. I also think that even thought this may be a slightly more summer colour, there is nothing wrong with trying to hold onto those summer memories for as long as possible and I think that this nail colour is a great way to be just a little bit of summer and a little bit of autumn at the same time. This Rimmel range is also really great, I tend to find these polishes last longer than the Barry M paints featured in this post and therefore worth paying slightly extra for them. Again always really easy to apply and no need for more than two coats of paint. Finish with a great top coat for the extra shine and you're set up for the week.
Barry M Nail Paint Racing Green
Finally for my autumn nail picks, I have chosen this lovely green from Barry M. Can you tell I'm a fan of Barry M nail paint?! I couldn't have done an autumn nail favourites without having a dark green featured. As we say goodbye to the green leaves on the trees, what better way to keep some green in your life than on your nails? I also tend to like this colour in these months as once Autumn hits, you know Christmas is just round the corner and this colour is a great mix to bring the both seasons together. This isn't my favourite of my picks I do have to admit as i'm actually not a fan of the shimmer this paint has to it. I would prefer the colour if it was more of a block, however that doesn't stop me from wearing it and actually, I guess the shimmer makes it all that more appropriate for the Christmas cross over! Great for later in the autumn once Christmas is creeping up on us! Like the glitter polishes from Barry M, this is slightly more messy to apply. It is quite a thick paint so makes it slightly sticky when applying. However this does mean that fewer coats will suffice. It doesn't tend to have a glossy finish which I prefer from nail paint but the shimmer in the pigment does replace that glossy element. I tend to use a high gloss top coat when wearing this one to make an extra impact which works really well.
And so that concludes my nail favourites for the Autumn months coming ahead. I hope you enjoyed this post. I always love chatting (or typing..) to you guys about things that I love so I have really enjoyed doing this post. Let me know what you think of the colours and if there are any others that you like to wear over the Autumn.
Until next time my lovelies,
