Look of the month

Hey guys. So I cannont believe October is over and done with already?! Feels like I've just blinked and it's gone. I'm really sorry I haven't been around for much of it. The office is moving and it's SO busy I literally come home at night and sleep! However, in amongst all the busyness I have been playing around with makeup and different looks and voila! This post was born. This is the look I have been wearing most through October.
I do apologise for my skin by the way, massive break out over this month, trying to get it under control!
I have been loving brown and golden tones to compliment the colour of nature this month. If you guys have been reading my latest posts, I'm sure you will know by now how in love I am with Autumn! So wearing golden, brown, reds have been my thing this month. Not only do they compliment the tone of the season, I actually feel like these colours match pretty much any outfit really well! I have been keeping the browns/golds to my eye makeup and then using darker berry shades/reds for my lips. Berry shades are my absolute favourite lip colours (another reason I love Autumn so much) and the one featured in this particular post is one of the very first ones I got for my collection from Avon.
It's not just autumnal makeup featured in this look of the month - I have been obsessed with this jumper from H&M a new purchase for the season and it was an absolute steal at only £6.99! I feel that this October has been so hard to manage what to wear with the weather being so indecisive. Mornings I wake up freezing and then by lunchtime I'm stripping off from over heating! This is where this jumper has been fabulous as it's not too thick for knitwear but still cosy enough to get me warm in the morning and keep me at a normal temperature throughout the day.

Makeup used in this post is petty much my standard makeup routine base - recently upgraded as you can find out if you take a look at my mini drug store haul post - and then a change for this look of the month on my eyes and lips! Rimmel 25 hour lasting finish foundation, shade 100 ivory. I have been using this foundation for around 6/7 years now? Something like that and it has done me proud everyday for all of those years. I have decided that my next buy will be something new though so if you have any recommendations, please let me know in the comments! I pair this with my ALL time holy grail product, Rimmel stay matte pressed powder shade: Soft Beige. I tend to use an ever so slightly darker powder product just to give myself extra colour, I feel too washed out otherwise. I'm not even going to preach to you about how much I love this powder, it's amazing and I love it forever, that's all I need to say. Next is Collection lasting perfection concealer in Medium fair. I first thought that this shade was slightly too orange toned for my skin, however I think it blends quite well with the foundation so for now it will do fine. If you read beauty blogs, I'm sure you are well aware of how incredible this product is for the price you pay. If not, go out and buy it. Now. I have just started using a bronzer in my make up routine, which I am loving however I feel it might take me a while to find one that I like in a shade I am comfortable with - again if you have anything to recommend, please leave a comment! As long as it isn't orange based, I am willing to give it a go. Onto my eyes, for this particular look of the month, I have still be obsessing over my Makeup Revolution Iconic Pro 2 pallet. Sorry to bang on about this all the time but the colours in this pallet are just perfect for this time of year! (YOu can read my review of this pallet here) Shade 'Paper' used for my base eye shaddow, this creates a nice light nude matte finished base for the other eye colours to go onto and I just feel that this helps the shadow last longer on my lids. I then use 'Awaken' shade in the centre and to the outer corners of my eyes, I love the golden tone to this shade and a perfect shimmer for this time of year. On the outer crease of my eyes I use the darkest brown shade 'New day' to create shadow and definition to the eye. Finishing with the lightest pale brown 'Silk' on the inner corners of my eyes to lift and brighten slightly! A great warm brown/golden autumnal look all from the same pallet, and I really do love how warm this feels. It goes perfectly with the darkness of my eyes also, which is great! Finishing the eye with a bold black cat flick eyeline look, created with Fast Stroke Eyeliner by Collection. Topping off my look with that Avon lip shade I mentioned earlier on, and that completes this autumnal look of  October for me! I feel like I've just rambled on at you all about how much I love autumn and all the looks I can create... ANYWAY! I hope you have enjoyed reading as much as I have enjoyed prancing about in this look all month! What looks have you been loving over this month? Leave some links below, I would love to take a look! Until next time my lovelies,

Mini Drug Store Haul

drugstore haul
Hello lovelies. I am sharing with you my latest mini drug store haul. Since I have just been paid, the first thing I had to do was march straight over to Superdrug in my lunch hour and pick up all the bits and bobs that I have been reading lots about this month.
Anyone who actaully knows me will know that I have literally not changed my makeup routine in YEARS! I mean I mess around with looks, so different lipsticks and eyeshadows etc. But the base of my makeup NEVER changes. This is because I struggle with bad acne and it makes me super conscious of trying out different foundations, concealers, powders etc etc. HOWEVER this is all changing - well I say all, my foundation is most certainly not, but a few other things are! I have branched out into different brands and different products and this is what I found...

powder facial products
First I knew I needed some new powder, the Rimmel London Stay Matte is my absolute holy grail powder. This will never change until I decide to maybe venture to something new! So this was my first pick. My usual make up routine consists of foundation, powder, concealer and a bit of blusher. However since I have been beauty blogging, I have realised I probably need to update this a little, hence the introduction of the bronzer. I went for this one as a lot of the ones I picked up and tried had quite orange undertones which I didn't want at all. This one didn't really have this. When applied it has a light shimmer and more of a brown/tan undertone to it. I like the shimmer as it makes it look a bit lighter on the skin and also keeps it a bit warmer for the colder months I feel. Sticking with the facial products, I have been after a new blusher for a while. I tend to mix up my blusher quite a lot, I get hooked quickly to a colour and then quickly get bored of it! I have heard some really great reviews about collection cosmetics recently, therefore I thought I would give this one a try. For the amount you pay - this is a fantastic blusher! It's really pigmented so you don't need a lot on the brush to get a good colour, making it long lasting which I always love! It's also not got too much of a shimmer to it. I hate shimmer blush products - as I struggle with oily skin, they just make me look 10x more oily than I would like! I also thought with my light shimmer bronzer, I didn't want too much shimmer going on - didn't want everyone to wear sunglasses every time they saw me!
concealer
More face products now. Frankly, the concealer I have been using for 50million years just hasn't been cutting it recently so the time came for a change. After reading so many wonder stories about this particular Collection product, there was no question in my mind about giving this a go. Well, talk about does exactly what it says on the tin - this is the most long lasting concealer I have ever used. So many others tend to go a bit oily after a while or just blend in/rub off my face. This one has not. I wore it for a night out about a week ago (sings about a week ago, week ago) and it lasted really, really well! I have been applying with a small headed concealer brush and blending it in to blemish areas on my skin and this has worked really well. The colour I chose was Medium Fair. I have to admit it is ever so slightly orange-y when first applied so when I come to re-buy I will probably go for a lighter shade. But when it is blended with the powder, you can't tell. Guys if you are looking for a cheaper alternative concealer - go for this one! It truly is lasting perfection!
mascara
To conclude my little drug store haul is this Maybellene Lash Sensational mascara. First of all, the packaging to this product is gorgeous. Anything remotely rose gold coloured always gets my vote! Again, I have heard so many favourite posts where this has featured and lots of good reviews, I had to give it a go. I have been using it for about a week now and it has definitely lived up to the reviews! The applicator is a curved brush with thin bristles. This works really well on the lashes as it elongates them as well as separating them making them look fuller all at the same time! I like to wear my mascara quite thick so I tend to put a couple of coats on and this works well for my desired look. It's lasting power is also really great, I haven't had much smudging at all - this is one of the reasons I would tend to spend more on mascara as I hate smudging - for a drug store price of £7.99 it is a really great spend. If you haven't already tried this but are not sure if you want to get on the hype or not - DO! You won't regret it, seriously!
Also in my little haul, I purchased a new foundation brush and an eyebrow pencil. Both fab products and re-buys. No doubt that some of these products will definitely be featuring in my September favourites. I'm so excited for that post as I have so many things I have been loving through September so be sure to keep your eyes peeled for that one.
I hope you have enjoyed reading about my little shopping trip! If you have your favourite drug store buys, new or re-buys that you always love - I would love to know in the comments. I am always looking for new things to try!
Thanks for stopping by! Until next time,

Autumnal Nail Favourites

Hello lovelies! This week I thought I would share with you my favourite nail colours for the Autumn months. I absolutely love painting my nails so much so that I have a dedicated day in the week - Thursday night in my house is nail night. Myself and mother sit there, over tea with a glass of wine and we paint our nails. Admittedly, we have had a couple of wacky creations created when one glass turned into one bottle...!
As it's Autumn my favourite time of the year, I thought I would combine two favourites and create a post out of it, on with the post!
Rimmel London Rapid Ruby
My first favourite is this gorgeous Rimmel Rapid Ruby. I have already done my nails this colour as soon as september hit, this went straight onto my nails! It's a bit deeper once it is applied to the nails than what it looks like in the pot, however I like that it's a deeper red. It is really easy to apply due to its slightly larger brush and it does tend to dry as quick as it says on the bottle... although I never trust it and always wait half an hour just in case anyway! I feel that this is a perfect colour for Autumn as it's such a warm, deep red it has a cosy sense to it which I love as Autumn is all about the cosy-ness!
Barry M Gelly Hi Shine Chai.
I didn't intend for this to reflect the grey days we tend to get here in the UK over Autumn, although I suppose it does and I feel like that's quite a poetic theory so lets go with that! Again, this is a really warm colour for the colder months. I think it looks warmer once it is on. This is one of my favourite nail colours that I own actually because I am so in love with this range, and just all things grey in general really... Although when I wore it the first time I did find it to chip quite quickly, the initial finish of the paint is stunning - its SO shiny! I just can't wait to get this onto my nails!
Barry M Nail Paint Vintage Violet
I am wearing this as I type this little post to you guys. I'm obsessed with anything vintage looking and I was really drawn to the pigment of this colour. It's not too bright but not a too much of a dull purple. You know I like the warmer colours by now right?! This feels great for autumn becuase it's still a splash of colour, yet it still keeps the warmth needed for the Autumn months. Like I said I do love Barry M nail paints however I do have an issue with how long they last - which is not very long just to clarify! But the range of colours is fab and they are easy to apply rarely needing more than a couple of coats to get a glossy finish, I would definitely recommend finishing this with a good top coat for a lasting finish.
Rimmel London Caramel Cupcake
First and foremost, can we just take a second to appreciate the adorable name of this nail paint. I mean it has the word cupcake in it for gods sake - adorbs! I know this is a nude colour and some people think more of a summer time kind of shade however, I thought this was a cute one for Autumn as it reminds me of chestnuts and and caramel (obviously, as the name would suggest) but more things like that which I would tend to eat more of in the Autumnal months and therefore a great colour to compliment all of those lovely foods. I also think that even thought this may be a slightly more summer colour, there is nothing wrong with trying to hold onto those summer memories for as long as possible and I think that this nail colour is a great way to be just a little bit of summer and a little bit of autumn at the same time. This Rimmel range is also really great, I tend to find these polishes last longer than the Barry M paints featured in this post and therefore worth paying slightly extra for them. Again always really easy to apply and no need for more than two coats of paint. Finish with a great top coat for the extra shine and you're set up for the week.
Barry M Nail Paint Racing Green
Finally for my autumn nail picks, I have chosen this lovely green from Barry M. Can you tell I'm a fan of Barry M nail paint?! I couldn't have done an autumn nail favourites without having a dark green featured. As we say goodbye to the green leaves on the trees, what better way to keep some green in your life than on your nails? I also tend to like this colour in these months as once Autumn hits, you know Christmas is just round the corner and this colour is a great mix to bring the both seasons together. This isn't my favourite of my picks I do have to admit as i'm actually not a fan of the shimmer this paint has to it. I would prefer the colour if it was more of a block, however that doesn't stop me from wearing it and actually, I guess the shimmer makes it all that more appropriate for the Christmas cross over! Great for later in the autumn once Christmas is creeping up on us! Like the glitter polishes from Barry M, this is slightly more messy to apply. It is quite a thick paint so makes it slightly sticky when applying. However this does mean that fewer coats will suffice. It doesn't tend to have a glossy finish which I prefer from nail paint but the shimmer in the pigment does replace that glossy element. I tend to use a high gloss top coat when wearing this one to make an extra impact which works really well.
And so that concludes my nail favourites for the Autumn months coming ahead. I hope you enjoyed this post. I always love chatting (or typing..) to you guys about things that I love so I have really enjoyed doing this post. Let me know what you think of the colours and if there are any others that you like to wear over the Autumn.
Until next time my lovelies,

Lust List #1

Welcome to my first lust list!
Autumn is my favourite month, I look forward to this season every year and for this reason, I have decided to put together a Autumnal lust list for you.
I absolutely love getting layered up and snug in the Autumn months and this gorgeous khaki coat from asos definitely caught my eye to get layered up with. I love the colour and the style of this coat and, hopefully if it doesn't sell out, I will be able to take this off my lust list and onto my favourite buys list!
I have been wanting to invest in a blogging log book for ages now but just haven't found the right one, as I would quite like it to look good as well as serve it's purpose. I stumbled upon  this cute little one via twitter actually as the Sighh brand was doing a giveaway - this just really caught my eye and seeing as I am slightly foul mouthed at times, I thought it would be the perfect fit.
Darker shades of bronzer & lipstick are the done thing for me during the Autumn months and browsing through feel unique these shades particularly caught my eye. I am a sucker for red lipstick and the packaging of this has got me hooked, I neeed this in my life. Love it! I also liked this particular shade of bronzer from YSL, I feel that it would still give a rosy tint, but be that lovely warm shade that is essential for the Autumn months.
I love black shoulder bags! And yano, a new season is surely the best excuse for a new bag, right? I love this again from asos so I should probably be quick to snap it up if I am going to get it before it sells out. The style of this bag is beautiful, I love the structure of it. The way it looks big enough to fit all of my rubbish in, but yet not too big that it's going to make me look ridiculous, basically I just need it in my life.
Black jeans are a slight addiction of  mine and would always be my fashion go to. Therefore how can I resist some new ones for the new season? These are new in at H&M and a complete steal if you ask me. They will definately be mine before the season is well underway. I also love the high wasted look and the slight slit in the knee crease, perfect to still show a teeny bit of skin before summer is totally out!
Last but not least - the chelsea boots! Since this trend has started I have literally brought a new pair every year. I just can't help it, I love them! And these ones are the ones I have my eye on at the moment. They are actually currently in the Office sale so I am going to have to be quick to snap these up. I love the chunky look to them and the fact that they are not over the top with the soles or the design. Just simple, black Chelsea's, what more do you need to start the Autumn right?

I hope you have enjoyed reading my first Lust List as much as I have enjoyed creating it. Let me know in the comments what you think of my lusts and also what you guys are lusting after for the Autumn!
Until next time,

Look Of The Month #1

I love look of the month posts from all  you lovely bloggers. I always get so much inspiration of what to try out next or what new clothes I want to buy. Granted, they usually make me spend too much, but never the less, I love them!
So, I thought I would do one myself.
This month I have been absolutely loving the half up do top knot look. It has become my daily hair style at the moment, I don't know if I may be over killing it, but I love it!  It's so easy to do and because I am up early for work it's a really quick go to hair style, I hate having my hair fully up so this is the perfect quick and easy compromise.
This has been the basis of my look of the month. However I have also been obsessing over a basic nude makeup look. It is really popular at the moment and I love it because I can get made up but still look like I've not made too much of an effort, again for work, this has been a life saver.

To create my nude eyes I have just done a basic shadow and mascara look. I have used this Clarins pallet. Taking the lightest from the far right and then creating a darker shadow in the creases of my eyes from the far left shade.  I think this works well as a two tonal look but keeps it basic and nude enough to create the perfect quick and easy everyday look.

My favourite lipstick to compliment my nude makeup look is this Clinique beauty. Like you will know, I am a sucker for Clinique makeup. It always works brilliantly to compliment my skin and I feel that for the price, it always last so long. Definitely worth paying a little bit extra! This Soft Bloom is my favourite shade to wear at the moment, I love how it feels on my lips as well; a bit like a balm as well as giving a lovely colour.

And that concludes the look I have been obsessing over this month. I do think I am going to carry on this look for a while! It's just so quick and easy to create. I might have a play around with some different shadow colours, maybe go a bit darker for the Autumn... Hmm so many ideas! But this will do me for now.
Keep a look out for my next look of the month to see what I attempt next!
Which looks have you been loving this month? I'd love to see some of them...maybe for some inspiration for my next look!
Thanks for stopping by,

Cloud 23 - Afternoon Tea

I'm just going to apologise now for the quickness of this post!
So I went for afternoon tea yesterday with my lovely partner - it was absolutely fantastic. We went to Cloud 23, The Hilton, Manchester. It is located in Deansgate in the city centre, if you ever get a chance to visit I would definitely recommend trying to book into here. It is rather posh - but stunning views and delicious food.
I took a few photos - admitedly not very good but I just really wanted to share how amazing the afternoon tea was with you guys - on with the pictures...

Excuse the hair - it was raining and really windy!

Not the best of days but still fantastic view!
And so there we have it, not too many pics but I did just want to show you how amazing it all looked. And we were so full! We didn't actually get that much tea which was a little bit disappointing but the food made up for it.

I hope you enjoyed looking at the photos - sorry this is short and sweet - got a wedding to get off to!

Have a lovely day.
thanks for reading.

June Favourites!

Welcome to my first favourites post!
How is everyone finding the heat? I hope there's not too much complaining as you always long for it when it's not here - enjoy it!
Anyway - I read so many monthly favourites and I always love them so, time to do one of my own. Here go's.
1. H&M slip-on sandals £14.99.
I love, love these shoes so much. Having originally brought them for my hols, they have actually seen a lot of wear these past couple of days with the weather reaching highs of 31 degrees here in Manchester! They are really comfy and so easy to wear just throwing them onto my feet before I rush out of the house. The buckle detail is something I particularly like as it makes the shoe a bit more interesting and also the little quirky detailing of the sole. I actually don't know what I used to wear on my feet in the summer before I had these, so easy to wear, comfortable and the perfect summer must have!
2. Black & Gold Earing Studs - Primark £2.50 I brought them on a pack of studs.
I have been obsessing over these this month, they are paired with pretty much every outfit. I love the vintage look to them which is the perfect accessory if you're wanting to add a touch of vintage to any outfit. They have a lovely spherical shape to them, not easy to notice on the photo - giving a unique 3D effect to the stud. They are just big enough on my ear that they make a statement yet don't look to big to fit my lobe. I also do tend to wear quite a lot of gold look jewelry so they match really well with other accessories that I own.
3. Sweet Retreat nail varnish - Rita Ora for Rimmel London
I paint my nails weekly so I'm a bit of a nail varnish hoarder, my collection is ever growing as I get bored quite easily of colours and I just love buying new ones to try. June was the month I treated myself to this lovely paint and I'm in love with it. It's so summery and sweet - as the name suggests - not too 'in your face pink' and it doesn't look sickly either. It matches really well to my skin tone as well which I like as sometimes paler colour's can my me look quite pasty. It has also lasted pretty well on the chip side and it goes on quickly only needing a couple of coats. Sometimes cheaper nail paints take 3 or even 4 coats to actually make it look like I'm wearing varnish, however I found with this one that, that wasn't the case. It dried within a couple of minutes and has lasted really well - very impressed! I would definitely recommend purchasing a one of these from the Rita Ora collection - all the colours are adorable and so summery!
Well that's it, the end of my first favorites post! I really enjoyed doing this post and I would love to know what you are all enjoying over the last month as well, leave me some links to have a read.
Thanks for staying,
